Ashley Judd was born in segregated Mississippi in segregated America. Her early life was marked by abuse and neglect, and her very young years brought to light many of the ugly facts about life in the Mississippi Delta. But even with all her hard work to achieve success in Hollywood, it hasnโt been enough to give her the kind of international recognition that she deserves.
Ashley Judd is an American actor and political activist; she was born in segregated Mississippi. She grew up poor, in a poor family of talented performing artists: her mother is a half-brother of country singer/actor Wynonna Judd and her father is a well-known union organizer. During the late sixties, she went to New York City to pursue a career in show business. In her first professional acting role she played a waitress in โThe Heartbreak Kidโ; after that she appeared in โGuys Are Goodโ, โIreneโ, and โAce Ventura: Pet Detectiveโ. But it wasnโt until she received an award for โBreakfast at Tiffanyโsโ that Ashley Judd began to be recognized by the public; after that her name began appearing more frequently on the screen.
During the eighties she appeared in a number of well-known films including โElla En Veraโ and โBeetlejuice II: The Searchโ. After that, she moved to Hollywood and spent the next several years performing in a variety of well-known plays and films including โEternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mindโ, โCatch Me If You Canโ, andโ Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (acycling toward infinity)โ with Tom Hanks, and โJurassic Parkโ with dinosaurs. But in the late nineties, she decided to concentrate on her love of childrenโs movies, and concentrate on her Broadway playwriting career. But it wasnโt until the following year that she received the Best Actress award from the Los Angeles Times for her role as a young girl in โElla En Veraโ. After that she continued to receive critical acclaim for her work in โYours for Goodโ and โarenthoodโ as well as receiving multiple honors for her role as a writer and producer on the film โeliaโ.
