Ashley Hesseltine was an American actor who played the character of Willy Loman in the award winning movie, The Godfather. Hesseltine was twenty-one years old when he first played the role, and it was his second movie that would be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Willy Loman was a character that was completely changed when director Francis Ford Coppola cast him because he was a little shorter than the previous incarnations of the character. Ashley Hesseltine went on to play other memorable characters in Coppola’s movies such as Michael Gambon in The Departed and Aladdin. As time progressed Hesseltine appeared in more movies, which would become quite popular worldwide including the Michael Mann directed films, The Man Who Stare at Goats and You Don’t Mess With the Zohan.
Ashley Hesseltine is currently acting again after some time away from the industry. He has decided to take on the role of starring in the video game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain as a writer. Hesseltine’s acting career began during the late eighties and through the nineties, he was able to establish himself in Hollywood. After leaving a number of notable roles in the likes of You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, Man on the Moon: The Definitive Edition, Men in Black and Spiderman, Ashley is now focusing on writing. He has also been used quite extensively in the television series 24 as a consulting producer.
Ashley Hesseltine is an actor that has left an impressive body of work. A tall and lanky man, Ashley Hesseltine has appeared in a number of well known films including You Don’t Mess With the Zohan, The Departed, Man On The Moon: The Definitive Edition and Spider-Man and X-Men. Despite this he is often times forgotten about when discussing the best British actors of this generation or even that of all time. Hopefully in the near future we will see Ashley Hesseltine makes a return to the big screen. For those of you that have not seen his films I highly recommend them.
