A pair of socks can represent a variety of different things. Depending on the kind of fashion trends that are currently in vogue, a pair of socks could come to depict a certain kind of fashion statement. Socks Architecture is one particular type of fashion trend which has been making waves all over the world recently. With the current dearth of originality in the fashion industry, many people have started copying the designs and patterns which are currently popular.

Architectural socks, or ‘rugs’ as they are also called, first made their entry into the fashion scene some time back in 1985. The main reason for their sudden popularity was their simplicity. They were highly contrasted yet symmetrical and they were a welcome change from the bulky knitted cardigans and woolly scarves which were the fashion standard until then. Although the look was classic, the shoes and overall appearance of the socks itself were rather innovative.

In fact, the entire concept of the architecture socks was born out of an actual need to provide more structure to what were already highly unbalanced garments. The architecture socks therefore had to be resistant to wear and tear, but still look good and be fashionable. As the concept became more popular, designers went crazy trying to incorporate different elements into the design of the socks. The most popular element of all was the presence of bright colors. These colors, apart from giving the overall outfit a bold and vibrant look, also helped in highlighting the unique cut of each individual sock. This, of course, increased the uniqueness of the individual set of socks and increased their demand.
