Amar Minhaj, Ali Smith, Eddie Izzard, Dinesh D’Souza and Joe Biden joined President Trump in pledging their love and support.

“The US government will provide shelter and other services to any refugees arriving in the US as part of this agreement,” Trump said.

The new deal comes amid intense debate over the Trump administration’s intent to roll back refugees coming into the country.

Trump began the announcement by promising a full vetting of refugees who arrive from Syria and elsewhere in the Middle East. He said the agreement, which he announced over the weekend, will “keep radical Islamic terrorists the hell out of our country.”

The president said that the new deal would ensure “greatness” for future refugees and would also prevent potential terrorists from entering the U.S. through the so-called “diversity visa” program.

“Our goal is to ensure that refugees who are unable to be resettled in the U.S. because they don’t have a relationship with U.S. service members are in fact allowed to come here, where you have a vetting process that you will never see,” Trump said.
