Alice Hector was born in 1825 in what was then the southwestern state of New Mexico. Her parents were both dead when she was a child, and she moved to Louisiana, where her father was a well-respected physician. While in college she developed a passion for acting, and began performing in plays, both in town and on Broadway, eventually becoming known as an “old maid” by the time she was forty. Her first professional acting job was playing the title role in a revival of King Solomon’s Birthplace, but this did not lead her to focus on that particular genre.

Throughout the years Alice has played romantic characters, all of which have fallen under the classification of “love story.” She has played the title role in a number of movies, including the films adaptation of the Bridesmaids stories, Come As You Are, and As You Like It. She has also had some substantial success in theater, writing several books, including one novel set in nineteenth century England. Her most recent play was the television movie Meet the Parents. This is probably her most well-known work.

Alice is certainly a character with a wide range of nationalities. However, at the time of her death her nationality was revealed as being American. This may mean that more shows may explore this aspect of her personality in the future. What is clear is that Alice is loved by many and that her ability to play the exotic and mysterious to have made her a truly beloved character. Her varied looks, her wealth of language and her ability to bring a unique view of the human experience are also part of what make Alice so appealing.
