Alice Deschamps is a French National, who has won a number of Emmys for her various achievements including the 1996 Best Actress award for “A Man For All Seasons” for which she played the character of Corinne Hofman. Alice was also nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in “Man on the Bridge”. However, it was her public criticism at the age of 48 of plastic surgery that finally led to her being dropped by the French board of directors who had signed her to their film credits. Now she lives in California, United States.
Deschamps is best known for her role as Jean Luc Goodwood in the movie “A Midsummer’s Night Dream”. However, the film itself is not a role that one could label as a ‘career’. In fact, most people would see the role as a one-way relationship. The career of Alice Deschamps has been a case study in the case of many an actress. As a child she appeared in theater, singing and playing musical instruments. However, when she was young, Alice Deschamps decided that she wanted to be a professional performer.
This led her to study acting in Paris and London, but was disappointed with the lack of recognition for women on stage. After she gained some stage experience, Alice decided that the theatre in itself was not for her. Instead, she concentrated her efforts on writing screenplays and adapting them into films. Although, after over 20 years, this career bore fruit with the release of “A Midsummer’s Night Dream” in the U.K., where she plays the lead role of Coraline herself.
