Alice Brussels was born in Belgium, where the country has a very strong identity. She is from a very distinguished family that is highly involved in the banking industry. Her parents were both educated at the university of Leyton and later went to University to obtain a degree in mathematics. After graduation, she joined the London Stock Exchange, where she held positions such as director of research and business manager for one of the newer investment banks, azard. It was here that she met and fell in love with a French national, who happened to be in London at the time.
The national later changed his name to Albert, and after relocating to Paris, they began a relationship. After several months of dating, the French national learned that Alice was of Belgian descent, and thus, they fell in love and married in August of 1970. Their marriage was a typical European setup, and Alice was only 25 years old when their marriage was legalized. The age of consent in Belgium is twenty-one years old, which means that the legal age of partner marriage in the United Kingdom would have been twenty-one in Belgium and twenty-one in the United States.
Alice was known for her great beauty, and became famous for her winning smile. She was also well known for her great height, at over 6 feet, and was known to wear glasses to correct the severe stalks of facial hair that was characteristic of her look. The only other woman of this stature who may have had the same physical attributes was actress Annette Kellerman, and she was just two inches taller than Alice. By the time of their marriage, they had three children, a grown daughter, and two stepchildren. Alice Brussels served as an alternative United Kingdom Ambassador to France and as a member of the royalist wing of the British government, but eventually she retired to become a full time writer.
