Alena Kunda is a professional artist and teacher from India. Her art is based on Indian and Tibetan culture and religion, combining this with modern styling and influences of world-renowned stylists such as Fauvist, GIA and Prada. Kunda’s career has spanned continents, as she has lived in many countries and has taught at various art schools and universities, including the renowned Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

Alena Kunda first became interested in art when she was a young woman, and she graduated in the Bachelor of Arts from the Government University of Madras in India, completing a degree in graphic design. After college, she worked for two years at the International Institute of Fashion Technology (IITM) in Mumbai, India, studying contemporary design with a focus on media and identity development. Later, she went to work at the prestigious Le Clos de Versailles in Paris, France, where she specialized in high-fashion apparel. After leaving Le Clos, Kunda worked for four years at the prestigious Costume Institute of India in New Delhi, where she specialized in men’s formalwear. Following her experiences at various prestigious fashion institutes, Kunda settled in Mumbai, where she opened a boutique that showcased her innovative, ethnic, handmade handicrafts.

Her love for the Himalayas spread, and she began creating customized embroidery patterns for clients, traveling to Nepal and India to oversee the production of these items. Eventually, Kunda launched her own label called Height International, which focuses on ethnic clothing. The brand caters to both men and women, and its line of ethnic wears includes dresses, suits, tunics, sales, and jewelry. Height International’s most popular item is its “Lagar” lehenga, a traditional printed saree that comes in either silver or gold tones. Kunda also serves as a consultant to several other brands.
