Aida Sock burst onto the scene during the early nineties, performing her unique, soulful blend of hip-hop, jazz, gospel, R&B and everything in between in a legendary live show at the legendary Studio 35 on Fifth Avenue in New York City. Her unique voice has since been covered by many artists including Mariah Carey, Smokey Robinson and Aretha Franklin, and Aida Sock still enjoys mainstream success today with singles such as “I Just Called Your Name”, “Ferns” and “Everything Is Beautiful”. Sock’s music has also been featured in movies including the Michael Jackson Movie Last Dance, as well as Don’t Take Me Home Forever, The Blind Side, Bridesmaids and What Happens in Vegas. In addition to her extensive musical career, Aida Sock has also found success as an actress, writing screenplays and creating music. Her voice is heard on the television shows Trading Places, Saturday Night Fever, Everybody Loves Raymond, Family Ties and has released several CDs of music including I’m A Man, Just A Girl and Just The Tip.
Aida Sock was born in Texas, the state where country music is at its highest level of popularity. Growing up listening to her grandmother, who was a singer, gospel singer and entertainer, inspired Aida Sock to develop her own unique sound and voice. She credits her grandmother as having the greatest musical ear ever, which helps to explain her lifelong passion for music, particularly country music. As a child she also had talent in voice talent, which led her parents to begin searching for performers when Aida was just eleven years old. Aida would eventually end up attending several country music concerts, where her singing abilities were noticed by people who signed her to a record deal.
Later on in life, Aida developed a reputation as a country songstress. She managed to establish her own label, called Aida Sock Records, which released her first two albums and was quickly signed to Capitol Records, which was where her fame really began. Her first single, Come Together, was the very first single to be produced by Capitol and it became an instant hit. Other singles from this album included Down in the Valley and I’m Always Forever Blowing Bubbles. After some time away from the country charts, Sock decided to return to the charts with Something About You. These songs all went on to become Aida Sock’s biggest hits, although some debate over whether or not her song I’m Always Forever Blowing Bubbles actually peaked at number one.
