Aida Arbones is a Roman that lived during the first century CE and is a well-known soccer player from Spain. She played for Barcelona until the retirement of Angel Maria Villas Boas in 1998. Boas is also one of the few players to have represented both Spain and Brazil and is now a coach of Uruguay. It was her playing career in Europe that initiated the profession of Aida Arbones. She worked as a sports reporter for some time before she decided to take up the coaching post at her Alma mater, Villarreal.
Her experience of ten years working as a sports reporter for a sports magazine allowed her to understand the different roles that coaches and sports administrators play in sport. This knowledge would give her a distinct advantage when it came to leading a team herself. During the early days of her coaching career she realized that the principal role of a coach was to educate the team on the basics of the game, build a good foundation for them to achieve success and help them to become better individuals so that they can achieve their goals in life. The profession of Aida Arbones helped her to understand that individual improvement is an important part of winning and building a winning team.
The discipline that Aida Arbones instilled in her players and the way she analyzed and criticized what went wrong or right became the core values of her profession. She was able to teach these values to young people of all ages who are interested in sports management or interested in becoming sports professionals. The discipline and hard work that she displayed in her career paved the way for many other successful managers to do the same.
