Isabelle Steffen is an artist, illustrator and cartoonist best known for her romantic themed watercolor illustrations of characters such as Snow White and the seven dwarfs, along with other characters that are dear to Steffen’s heart such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Sleeping Beauty, Tarzan, Paddington Bear, Winnie the Pooh, The Mad Hatter, Alice in Wonderland, Dora the Explorer, Scooby Doo, Barbie and many others. It is easy to see why Steffen is such a well-loved character in the watercolor world as she creates lifelike art with her pencils, acrylic paints, and watercolor paints in her numerous comic books including, Brats, and the popular, “The Birthday Party” series. In her comics, Steffen has illustrated everything from fairy tales to celebrity gossip. And through her illustrative work, Steffen displays her creativity and her knowledge of drawing while providing superb color details to bring these characters to life.

Isabelle Steffen’s greatest passion is her love of drawing and the way she can make a picture come to life. As a child, she was often sent to live with foster families where she lived with another German family who only spoke French. Growing up in foster care, Steffen developed a deep love of the French language and an insatiable passion for all things French. Her first brush with painting was while she was attending art school in Paris where she honed her talent for figurative and realistic drawing while attending art school. After graduating in painting from the prestigious Ecole Centrale in Paris, she quickly moved to California to become a top illustrator for prestigious publishing houses.

Isabelle Steffen has grown as an artist since leaving home to pursue her love of art. She has created a large body of work that covers a wide range of subjects including animals, nature, historical, celebrity, and fashion. Her work has been displayed at the world’s most prestigious museums including the Guggenheim Museum in New York, The Smithsonian American Art Museum, and The British Museum.
