Caroline Blomst is an Australian actress and fashion model. She is the lead singer of the band The Replacements and also starred in a movie version of her life story entitled: “The Rose” with Bryan Adams. As a performer, Blomst has had some significant roles in movies such as: Leaving Las Vegas, Swing Vote with Sylvester Stallone, Crazy Heart, Pretty Woman and The Perfect Storm. While on stage, Blomst frequently uses the dolly walk, often paired with a large dolly stick that she uses to move about in the scene.
Blomst is currently thirty years old, but her career spanned the last decade and more than likely will continue for many more years to come. It’s interesting to note that most of her roles have been in movies that are set in high society environments, such as dancing with men in clubs or being a love interest for a wealthy man. While it’s obvious that height is not a factor when casting a leading character for a movie, it’s interesting to see how successful a woman in the entertainment industry remains in her own day-to-day life given that the demands of such a job require her to maintain her own personal appearance. It is impossible to imagine any actress today playing a part in a romance comedy or playing the sultry, confident nurse in a hospital drama where she must be slim and fit with a national role.
Blomst fits into the mold of what many Hollywood actresses are trying to portray today. Her height is certainly not a hindrance given her ability to play the role of a strong, capable, strong woman who has the looks and confidence to move in any scene. Playing such a character requires not only good acting skills, but excellent grooming and personal maintenance as well. While it’s possible to be thin and still take care of your health by following a proper diet and fitness regimen, height and citizenship outside of Australia are factors beyond most actresses’ control and yet become part of the deal for many successful actors and actresses.
