Valentina Marchei is a young, talented Italian double jump star and multi-time Italian world champion. She is also a two-time Olympic gold medalist. As a doubles skater, she has been a two-time World Cup doubles champion. Her highest ISU Championship placing was 7th at the 2021 World Championships and then 8th at the 2021 European Championships.
Valentina has played with all the big brands of equipment. She was a sponsored jumper by K-Swiss-sponsored Neteller, before signing with Hertz. She had worked hard to achieve those high ratings in doubles in Italy, including a superb performance at worlds with Toni Berrios and Giancarlo Di Mauro. After the retirement of Sarah-Quita Baldacci last year, Valentina will be in direct competition for their vacant slots. Berrios and Di Mauro have both agreed to move to greener pastures, leaving a huge space for Valentina.
Age is definitely not on Valentina Marchetti’s side, though. She is 31 years old, four years older than her partner in the partnership, Pierpaolo Angelidis, who is twice her age. It will be interesting to see how long Valentina can hold out, given that she has already admitted that age is one of the major barriers to her happiness in a relationship, even if it is a relationship built on talent and speed.
