Yasmin Goedhart was born in Morocco and is one of the many African American women who are professionally known as “Singer/actor/actress” although her real identity is Jewish. She is a member of the Lost Boys of Egypt, which is an underground organization that consorts with the media, the film industry and other Hollywood stars to keep their identities hidden for their entire careers. She is most well known for being one of the featured personalities on the television series Vinyl. She has also had a successful career as a writer in addition to her acting skills and continues to work in the area of screenwriting and producing.
Since breaking through in the 1980’s, she has established herself as one of the best known and successful actresses from Africa on the major screen. Her ten years of screenplays (all but two were in films) and four films have established her as one of the best actresses in the field. Her career path has spanned roles in various genres of cinema with roles in everything from animated films to period dramas. It seems that as long as her body is on display, there is a new and exciting role waiting for her.
The relationship that she forged with her husband, Richard Belkin, ended shortly after their marriage when he discovered her true ethnicity and nationality, while she remained happy to maintain her English identity. While her ethnicity and nationality were important in the initial stages of their relationship, both of them now fully supports their love for each other and are happily married. It must be noted that despite her upbringing being strictly professional, she has now developed a close personal relationship with her daughter, Leona. This shows that age does not inhibit professional success for any woman and with the exception of Yasmin Goedhart, who is now aged in her late thirties, other older actresses with established careers have little challenge to keep going.
