The Nationality of Juliana Tucano is Brazilian. Born in Recife, the youngest of three daughters, she trained at the Uffizi University before going on to train with various other gymnasts and eventually earning a PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Siena in Italy. While there she developed a reputation as a world class weight lifter, a world class rebounder and a strong competitor in the International Gymnastics scene. Following her retirement from gymnastics, Juniana returned to Brazil where she trained with former all time gymnast Leonaaldo. Today she is an entrepreneur working from her home as a physical therapist.

As a gymnast, it has been my experience that Juniana excels in the free style, balancing bars, power bars and tumbling. As a coach, I have discovered her to be an excellent performer when coaching young gymnasts in both the sport of gymnastics and as a teacher. However, what stands out the most is the enthusiasm with which she inspires young gymnasts in both sports. A former gymnast for the United States National Team, Juniana was chosen to represent Brazil at the Olympic Games once, and went on to become the first female Olympic gold medalist in over forty years.

In recent times, I have come to know that Juliana remains determined to reach the very top in her sport and she has set her sights on becoming the first ever women’s world champion. If successful, this will be a huge feather in her cap and a huge scalp off her shoulders. gymnastics is a sport where age and gender do not matter, and anyone can achieve great results. For those who are interested in this type of gymnastics, or indeed gymnasts in general, there is plenty of information on the internet and in libraries. If you are looking to get involved, I urge you to take the first step and do a bit of research.
