Adriana Joias is a performer and singer who is known as one of the original Spanish musical influences. Born in Cavalleria de Mar; Adriana’s hometown was named after her great grandmother who played the lute, and her passion for music and her love for music started at a very young age. She was given her own piano at the age of six and from there went on to play various instruments such as the guitar, and even the piano. From a very young age, Joias started developing her vocal talent and from there she went on to become known as a famous singer and song writer. She has also had her work translated into many languages such as English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, and Portuguese.
Adriana’s career spanned two decades from the late seventies up to the early eighties. Her works were largely inspired by Spain, with songs about love and innocence, and a liking for animals, although her output also included sounds from other parts of the world, and even biblical texts. Her best-known songs include “Babylon Sisters”,” Carmen Telegra” and “Erebus”. Another of her Spanish musical influences would be the band called Mongooses, and their hit song “Reynols”. Other styles of music that Adriana Joias influenced would be the jazz band Blondie, and the band Canoades.
Adriana Joias’ great contribution to the Spanish music scene was her success in creating several successful solo albums, and over the years her songs and works have been recorded by many other musicians. A notable album would be Moovit, which she produced and released in the early eighties. Moovit featured Joias’ first attempt at writing an original lyrics, and her style of use of words (much like Canoades) resulted in some very innovative songs that helped define the sound of the eventual Spanish pop music that would come to dominate the rest of the musical industry. In recent times Joias has become well known for her role as a presenter on the Spanish TV show La Granada, as well as her work as a judge on the popular soap opera serials. She is currently preparing for a film project which will star her daughter, and which has already had several delays. Adriana Joias has achieved a great deal of commercial success in her career and is well worth a listen to.
