Abigail Brown is an interesting character from the world of independent movie and theater. She is played by Abigail Scott, who also had a notable voice over work in the past, most notably in Kung Fu Panda and Ice Age. She is an attractive young woman, working as a dancer in a high class club. She meets a handsome young man in college, Greg, whom she begins to date, but things go bad when he ends up beating her. She ends up having an affair with another man, Teddy, and becomes his legal wife.

In the second book, Hard Luck, Abigail returns to London as a married woman, where she meets the handsome young stallion, Neil, who happens to own a small pub in the East End of London. He becomes more interested in her than the other men and starts flirting with her, which eventually leads to them being taken away in the back of a truck while Abigail is supposed to deliver another halfbrained bird, Fagin, to his father at a fair in Westport, Maryland. Abigail and Neil end up stealing the birds and escaping through the sewers, while Neil escapes with Fagin.

Abigail then travels to England, where she finds work as a seamstress, but the job puts her in contact with the creatively and magically-inclined Mr. Knightly, who designs clothes for the wardrobe of high society. But when a freak storm causes the London sewers to close, Abigail must use her skills to make clothes for the homeless people in the streets. She also falls in love with another woman, Teddy, who happens to live on the same street as Neil and Fagin, and helps them in their adventures as well. However, Abigail’s life is turned upside down when the novel is suddenly put in a new print, entitled “Hard Knocks”, where she is pregnant again and heads off to Africa, where a large British sloop has been taken out to sea to help protect it from pirates.
