Caroline Robins is a British National, whose professional life spans the span of more than half a century. She is primarily a writer with a great number of articles for many periodicals and newspapers, focusing on matters regarding women, sex, beauty and literature. Her most famous books include “A Woman’s Guide to Sexual Medicine”, “The Nationality Files: A Woman’s Guide to Nationality, Class and Identity” and “A Woman’s Guide to Vintage Dating”. In addition, her most recent book is “The Naughty Book: An Expression of Youth”, which is about exploring womanhood from the perspectives of a sixty-something woman.
Before getting to know Ms. Robins much, I have to mention her partner. Her partner in this book is John Campbell, who happens to be her son. As you might expect, the relationship between the mother and her son is not a very stable one and they constantly fight. However, on reading “A Woman’s Guide to Vintage Dating” by Caroline Robins and discovering how much the guide has to offer, I would say that the relationship between the mother and her son is even stronger than I had expected.
At the beginning, I was expecting something a little more sophisticated than a kids’ book about Nationality, Class & Identity, but somehow “A Woman’s Guide to Vintage Dating” really surprised me. It was very easy to understand and seemed to go down well with my children. I did feel the author did a good job of explaining things in a way that my teenage daughter will easily understand. The book is chunky and has lots of pictures to reinforce the points that are being made. It is definitely more educational than the average date guide. So, if you’re looking for an interesting, informative and perhaps a little offbeat read, you’ll probably find this is a good one.
