A Synthetic Fabric Changing the Fashion Trend

Latex has always been an interesting and controversial topic when it comes to the fashion world. While most people are familiar with latex as a type of gloves used for those who perform the profession of performing threading, there have been issues regarding it as an actual fabric used in fashion. Latex was banned in the 1970’s in the United States due to certain chemicals that were found to be released during its production, and although it was brought back into fashion by the ‘Lyrical’ or “Lyrical” movement in the eighties, it never gained popularity as a replacement for silk or cotton materials due to a lack of taste and preference. This is a trend that has long since changed. In case you haven’t noticed, the current fashions of fashion are much more heavily affected by the type of fabric they are constructed from.

If you have a close eye towards what is being worn around the globe right now, you are sure to see quite a few different garments created out of different types of latex materials. This versatility makes latex a much sought after material for all types of clothing, from pajamas, nightwear, dresses, to jeans, skirts, two bodysuits. Even swimsuits are made from latex as a result of the amazing ability of the latex material to stretch without tearing.

If the name latex sounds strange to you (let’s be honest, it does when you first hear it), you need to take a second look at what this new fashion trend is all about. For one thing, latex materials are incredibly durable and strong. It doesn’t tear, or rip easily and it has a ton of styles and colors to choose from. While it is not the same as other natural fabrics such as cotton, silk, or wool, it will stand up to the everyday wear and tear of every day use.
