Ashley Spivey is an Australian citizen who has been playing baseball since he was seven years old. He was brought up in Perth, Australia and despite being a first year starter at Kookaburra Secondary School, ended up moving to Victoria when he reached the age of sixteen. Spivey started playing for the Perth Heat where he helped them win the premiership in 2021 before moving onto VFL with the Brisbane Lions. After two years at South Australia’s Lions, Spivey joined the Melbourne Storm where he has impressed with his high running style, hitting the century mark in his debut season. Now he is on the verge of making a name for himself in the Big Blacks, playing as a utility forward.

To make his name stand out Spivey wears a number of different nationalities; he is originally from New South Wales but has lived in various parts of the country including Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane. Ashley Spivey’s parents were originally from Australia’s South Coast, which placed him in the state of Queensland. He started playing club baseball at Kookaburra High School, where he became known for his ability to run and catch the ball. A talented player, he was often selected for the cricket team but failed to make any appearances in the sport. It was then that Spivey realized his true talent and signed with Geelong Grammar School. His performance in the latter earned him a scholarship and he moved from there to attend University to continue playing cricket.

Today Ashley Spivey is in the midst of what can be considered a meteoric rise to national prominence and stardom. The 25-year-old is currently one of the best known players in the A-list following a string of impressive performances for both the Cats and the Kangaroos in the recent past. However, it was not that long ago when he was thrust into the spotlight and came face-to-face with the public, having been named the worst sporting star of the year after missing out on the Australia Rising Series because he was not tall enough. This award, it must be said, has helped catapult Ashley Spivey to international stardom, but it has also helped put the spotlight on a player who has always been held back by his height.
