Giulia Rozzi is the creator of the acclaimed web series Happy Days, which was filmed in Italy and aired on MTV. She is an Italian-American stand-up comedian who has also created several English-language television shows for television, including Spaced and Attitude. Her popular characters include Daphne Yeager, her best friend and romantic partner; Don Johnson, a middle-class man who owns his own construction company; Jerry and Elaine, a couple whose fun-filled, frolicking lives are turned upside down when they’re forced to move into a shared apartment; and Stephanie, their cute, mischievous schoolgirl friend. The characters have united several generations of American families.
Giulia Rozzi’s life has been the animated lead of many of her funny sketches, where she plays a character whose attitude, mentality, and social circumstances are totally contrasted with her counterpart. The animated characters are portrayed with such acumen, wit, and intelligence that their real personalities shine through as they banter, argue, and even fight each other in the most memorable scenes. As an artist, Giulia Rozzi has managed to create a successful body of work which, though it spans over many decades, never falters or loses its appeal. One of her greatest strengths as a comedian is her ability to draw a complex person into a simple, yet flawed character, and then to present this complex person in a very funny light. In many ways, it’s as if she’s able to view her characters in a mirror.
The Last Season of Happy Days was the last project produced by Giulia Rozzi. During the production, Giulia Rozzi met her husband Mario Lanza, who happened to be one of the most popular Italian comedians at the time. The couple instantly hit it off and spent several years creating some of the best Italian comedy television that was ever created. The Last Season of Happy Days was a much-praised return to form for Giula Rozzi’s career, which also included some truly memorable appearances by two other legendary Italian comedians, Enzo Guteralli and Pierpaolo Pincotta. The Last Season of Happy Days is a highly recommended sequel to the hit documentary “The Last Season”, which is still available on DVD.
