A Closer Look at Thermic Socks

Thermal socks, also known as thermoplastic or Metamucil socks, are made of a material that allows certain kinds of fibers to be woven into very thin, even strands that can create a small barrier that helps to prevent heat loss. In this way, these socks actually boost the efficiency of your foot’s natural thermo-regulating mechanism – the same one that keeps your feet extremely warm during cold days – by creating what is called a thermal barrier. So, what exactly are these socks made of and how do they work?

Thermic socks are made of a material that allows certain fibers to be woven into very thin, even strands that can create a small barrier that keeps the temperature of your feet elevated. The main active ingredient in these socks is a chemical called Rechargeable Battery Technology (RBT). This chemical absorbs heat energy when it comes in contact with the air, thus releasing or drawing heat away from your body, keeping your feet extremely warm. These socks usually come in two different temperature ranges, one that is meant for fairly low-heating levels (such as a pair of standard tennis shoes) and one that has a much higher heating capacity, such as a pair of high-quality cowboy boots.

In addition to the main thermal function of providing a very comfortable temperature for your foot, these types of socks also have another important advantage: they come in a variety of styles. For example, some of these thermal socks (most notably also thermal socks) are made of a material used commonly in tennis shoes. Thus, if you want to wear a pair of Thermoplastic or wool socks that make your foot feel incredibly warm and cozy, then these models are probably the best option for you. However, there are also assos thermal socks that are more like the type of socks you would put on when running around in the snow, or a pair of standard socks. There are even some types of roubaix material used as socks! Whatever your preference, there is certainly a pair of thermal socks out there for you.
