Elizabeth Lopez said she is thankful for the police department’s response to her case and for the officers who came to the incident scene. “It was an incredibly good case,” she said, “It showed them how far we’ve come in trying to get the right people and getting this resolved.”
“I just hope that justice will be served in this case and everyone can be able to move on with their lives,” she said.
Rosa Guerrero, the victim’s aunt, said in a statement that she’s “moved on” and is “thankful” to all the community, friends, and family members who support her.
“In these trying times we still have the support of my family, friends, and so many wonderful people who have been praying for and supporting me and helping my family,” Guerrero wrote. “Now I can focus my energy on seeing that my family does not have to go through this again.”
AlertMe
AlertMe is using Apple’s FaceTime to send messages to the victims’ families
AlertMe has two main features:
1. Send a text:
A) Text the word #AlertMe (it’s right in the text field on the iPhone). You are the person to text.
B) A text is sent to the first person you text. This person can respond.
2. Send FaceTime to their phone:
A) Turn the camera on.
B) Type the person’s name.
AlertMe sends the message to their phone and asks them to respond.
We’re not sure how this works because we’ve not received any responses. But we know from Twitter that this is not just a “local” problem. Some people are using our technology — including, perhaps, my colleague John D. Stoll who posted the above photo — to communicate with family and friends who are either in or near Orlando, Florida.
