Sonia Aziz) “I am a Muslim in Pakistan and I would never ask for a visa because they are not like us [Muslims/Muslim brothers/women],” Aziz told PTI.

“A visa is for business or a tourist. What I want is for them to teach our religion how to be peaceful. But these are people of their mindset. When those few people are doing what they are doing, then it becomes a trend,” Aziz said.

The comments were made following Pakistan becoming the first country after India to declare a nationwide two-day mourning for the attack. The incident is being seen as an act of revenge by Sunni leaders following a bloody attack on the country’s Shia community in December in which over 30 individuals were killed.

Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain said that the country would carry out a comprehensive assessment of security measures after the attack took place on Friday and noted that the situation was being monitored in all sensitive areas along the Indo-Pak border.

Shias form part of Pakistan’s vast Sunni minority. The latest attack came just days after an altercation between two groups of protesters in Karachi. Police fired tear gas to disperse the crowds, and then arrested eight protesters.

Shias constitute some 10 percent of Pakistan’s population of 180 million.
