Nadine Abigail, a dancer from Ghana with the given name Nadia is known as the African Queen of Dance. Born in Cameroon, Nigeria in 1954 she is described by the world renowned African author Dr Johnobal Williams as having the ‘gift of imagination’. This ability to see and create beauty through movement and choreography has earned Nadine numerous awards for her work as a choreographer, dancer and choreographer singer. Nadine is often described as a ‘total entertainer’ and this is certainly true, as her ability to move into any role is unsurpassed by any other African dancer I can think of. However, when it comes to the profession of African choreographers, what exactly does an artist do to make a living?
Well, a very good starting point is to have some experience of choreography and dance, as this will allow you to develop your skills and be seen as an expert. Some other factors involved in this profession are networking, passion, professionalism and a desire to succeed. A career as an African choreographer will also give you the opportunity to travel and teach at international dance schools. This will not only allow you to experience different cultures but to teach others the art of dance.
In terms of height, Nadine stands at 5 feet 7 inches tall, which is just an inch taller than some of the female supermodels that we see on television and in magazines. However, it seems that Nadine is not bothered about her height and she is happy for the people to focus on her talent rather than her size. So how did this tall Queen become so tall? She has been said to have gained her height by doing ballet and weight training, both of which are known for increasing height. However, there are many people who claim that this tallness has no basis or that it is myths. We shall see in time.
