Knit A Simple Reciprocal Decrease Foot Stitch Knitty Socks!

Today I want to talk about my new favorite fashion trend – Knitted Bandanas! In addition to being extremely warm and cozy, these knitted bandages can also be used as headpieces, or even added to an existing scarf as a decorative item. It’s so simple to knit these knitted bandages with a special cable knit, that it’s really not much of a sweater, or accessory at all. In fact, if you do not wish to wear a hat with your scarf this winter, a knitted bandana can be a great replacement.

Knitty Gritty Socks would be the perfect pair to add to an already completed ensemble. Knit from the standard round in a traditional seeded rib pattern, these simple socks will truly disappoint those who have been looking for a super fancy pair of snow socks. Working in a slightly larger gauge than the average fingering weight, these knitty gritty socks knit up very quickly and are just as fun to create! The cables within the unit are usually a bit finer than a typical fingering weight wool sock, making them slightly more difficult to pin, but not impossible.

Knitting a pair of knitty gritty socks is also very easy to complete. A standard circular knitting needle will be required to obtain a perfectly finished project, though the smaller size needles used in knitting these socks are not required either. As always with knitting, using a rubber or wooden yarn makes the process go much smoother. With a standard fingering weight yarn, the cables should be placed quite lightly onto the fabric before the first stitch is made, making sure they are not where they may catch. If at any point a stitch catches, simply remove the stitch from the knitting needle, re-run the rest of the stitches and continue the knitting with a new needle.
