How To Make A Rice Sock Snowman

There is no way anyone could pull off a snowman costume for a children’s party, but there is a fun way to make it look like he has snow socks for feet. Just make sure that the socks you buy are a bit bigger than your child’s normal socks, as they have to go on, but also that you buy those with elastic in the toes. Put the bottom of your kid’s sock onto the elastic band that is supposed to go around his or her ankle, but now you want to hold onto the upper part that would cover his or her foot, not just the bottom. Grab your glue gun and warm up.

Get your glue gun outfitted with some hot glue and place the socks onto the elastic band that goes around your kid’s foot. If you are making a bigger snowman sock, go ahead and place three or four of them on one end of the elastic band and hold them in place by twisting them a little. When the glue is dried, you will see that the top half of the socks will not quite fit around your kid’s ankle (depending on how big it is). Once you have stretched the socks a bit, twist them out of the band and re-stretch them until they are nice and tight around your kid’s foot. You can either sew them on or cut them with a pair of scissors.

Remember, there is no way you are going to make a perfectly themed sock snowman for your child. You are going to have to play around with it a bit and find what works and what doesn’t. This is a great project for the whole family and really gets your creative juices flowing! If you get stuck, YouTube has a lot of cute videos featuring people making their own sock snowmen.
