Wild West Fashion Trend

Wild West is a part of our American heritage and it has definitely influenced our style and fashion as well. This popular western fashion trend was first launched in Depression era with the belief that life would be much more comfortable if one had “bad” clothing to wear. The result was a collection of very fashionable clothing and accessories for people who belonged in this part of America. The most famous items in this fashion trend are the western cowboy hat and boots, denim shirt, leather jacket and jeans.

Wild West Fashion Trend. One of the most interesting aspects of this wild west fashion trend is that every woman was identified by the size of bra or outfit she wore. A full-on cowgirl look was followed by this style of clothing, but in fact many women wore the prairie dress, which is a form of prairie dress but it was shortened. The prairie dress did not include long sleeves and was mostly available in short length. West Side Story revealed much of the creative process that went into designing this clothing and accessories for the women belonging to this part of America.

Western Women. The good side of this wild west fashion trend is that it encouraged women belonging to the western part of America to wear clothing appropriate for the westerners. This included jeans, full-on cowgirl wear, and of course, the western cowboy hat. Although the image of cowgirls portrayed in movies may have created a negative image for some women but the reality is that cowgirls existed before movies and portrayed in movies. They have always been strong and brave and their popularity is not a result of any negative stereotypes but due to their beauty and elegance which they were recognized for during the early history of this fashion trend.
