Ageism – What Does It Mean?

Emma Egbers is a famous British actress and model from upbringing in Yorkshire. She has played both opposite sex roles throughout her movie career and it seems as though her age and nationality are playing a large role in how she’s portraying her age and nationality in the acting world. Recently Emma has appeared in the film “Prevail” and is now promoting a role in the movie “Theencer” as well. She has played different characters in both films and appears to be quite comfortable in both age groups. In the first “Prevail” she plays a woman in her thirties who is a mother of three, while in the second she’s thirty years old and plays a motherly figure in her role.

While comparing her two roles, perhaps the most interesting aspect of Emma’s success has been in her height. It’s been commonly said that British women tend to have longer than American wives, and Emma has certainly seemed to fit into that mold. She’s tall, just over six feet, and has played down her height through her professional life. She’s been listed at six foot ten inches in official listings and has admitted to having trouble keeping that figure up. However, throughout the years her looks have improved, and she seems to love her present height, and all the attention it brings.

One of the reasons for her height increase has been her career. Emma began working in the nineteen eighties, and while her professional growth was quite slow during this time, it’s been steady since she has retired from acting, and entered the world of writing. Her first book, “Wings” was published at the age of sixty-one, and she has been able to build a reputation in the literary field that will keep her in demand for many years to come. This is clearly a case of being able to maintain a regular and healthy lifestyle, as well as pursuing a chosen profession. Whether this is ageism or just another trait of the English speaking world, Emma is a great example of how you can keep going while staying true to your own personality, and your own unique personality.
