Fashion Trends of the Decade

The nineties fashion trends were dominated by the short black mini dress, small clutches and brightly colored tops. Although many women did not wear this fashion trend due to its conservative style, it was still a hit on the high end fashion runway. The large popularity of the mini dress inspired designers to create more modest versions of the style that was available for junior bridesmaids to wear during the wedding ceremony. Although many brides opted to wear the mini dress in the reception, the black mini dress was still a popular option for the bride to wear at her wedding ceremony and throughout the reception. Although black mini dresses are still a popular choice for weddings, they are not as trendy as they used to be and many brides opt to wear other colors or simple, elegant pieces that are not black.

Another one of the top fashions for the decade was men’s clothing, specifically, men’s formal wear. Fashion designers started to create fashionable suits, tuxedos and jackets that were available for both men and women during the early nineties. One important trend in men’s formal wear during this time period was the use of designer jeans and chinos that were quite popular with the younger generation of men. The use of these trendy fashion pieces was common amongst the hip-hop crowd as well as other members of the general public who were just starting to enter their adult lives.

Last but certainly not least, one of the most popular styles of clothing during the decade was denim. This article does not even begin to discuss all of the different styles that were made from denim during the decade. Fashion designers worked to incorporate a wide variety of colors, fabrics and designs into the production of many types of denim so that it is possible to find a great variety of choices for anyone who is looking for a great casual, formal or casual garment. Although jeans were certainly not the most popular style of clothing during the decade, they were certainly very popular among men who were trying to incorporate a more stylish look into their overall wardrobe.
