Born in Marseille in 1990, Olivia Piana was raised primarily in the French Alps by her mother, a passionate sailboat fan. Inspired by her mom, who was a strong sailboard rider, Piana began to sailboard as a young girl. Living in the outdoors, however, sailboarding was not exactly practical for Piana, who rather focused her efforts on participating in long distance triathlons instead. After becoming more than a satisfied outdoor woman, she pursued an education in psychology and mathematics at a college in La Sorbonne, but found that she still had plenty of time on her hands. With the support of family, Piana pursued an interest in tapestry design and soon found herself creating tapestries for friends and neighbors, as well as working with local businesses to promote the community spirit that had always been a part of her personality.

In 2021, Olivia Piana finally returned to Europe to compete in the Olympic Games in synchronized swimming, and her performance kickstarted a career that would see her travel to dozens of different countries and even create several new ones. Once she came home to America, however, she found herself looking for something a little less overwhelming to take part in, like a hobby or a pastime. So it was with some surprise and a lot of trepidation that Olivia Piana set out to take part in a triathlon. This new event would not involve the use of a boat, but would be a self-driven, competitive event instead. The first of this new competition was the Olympic distance water game, and with this in mind, Olivia Piana selected a course layout that would allow her to use the skills she had learned from sailing and tapestry design to land a considerable distance in the Olympic water.

If you have watched the Olympics, then you will no doubt be aware of just how talented and how skilled Olivia Piana is. She has out-danced and out-run every other woman in the water, winning a record four golds, and setting many of the standards that other swimmers are striving for in order to get their names on the medals podium. But even if you have never seen an Olympic event, you have no doubt heard of this remarkable woman, as she has become a beloved figure in both the swimming and surfing worlds. This latest adventure in her life is the culmination of a long and intriguing career, and it shows.
