How to clean boots can be a bit confusing at times. I remember when I was young my mother would not let me use her bathtub because she knew that I was going to end up with all sorts of germs and dirt on them. The thing is, none of the dirt or germs had anything to do with me and I had just gotten them wet from taking a shower. If you’re like my mother, if you have leather boots you know how difficult it can be to keep them clean. Leather tends to attract a lot of dirt and grime over time, especially if you have them in the wintertime.

If you want to learn how to clean leather boots effectively, you first need to know what kind of cleaner would work best for your boots based on what kind of dirt and grime they’ve accumulated over time. Obviously if you have work boots that have never been in a wet water you should not be using any kind of industrial strength detergent or cleanser, they won’t work. You should instead be using something that is meant for cleaning leather boots.

In order to get suede boots clean you should focus on removing the dirt and stains as quickly as possible. You can remove the stains and dirt by simply using a damp cloth with a suede protector applied to it. Never use any type of steel wool or elbow grease because it will permanently damage the suede boot. Instead, take a soft scrubbing pad and work the suede boots gently into the dirt and grease with a little pressure. Leave it on for about five minutes and then rinse it off with water.
