Now that the decade-long celebration of grunge is coming to a close, what comes next? Will the fashion world shun those fashions and styles which are in fact ‘last year’s trends?’ Or will we once again return to the good old fashion from long ago – only it’ll be more stylish, edgy, and trendier? Or perhaps the pendulum will swing the other way and fashion once again become popular amongst all generations and demographics.

One thing’s for certain – if you were to look at the pages of any major fashion magazine, you’ll find that the top trends this season are heavily geared towards the ‘Grunge’ style. The style is characterized by oversized, loose t-shirts, jeans, sneakers, chinos, and classic brogues (which many people still don’t know are the ‘in’ style). The best way to identify a particular trend is usually to observe it for a week or two and note the type of clothing and accessories that are most popular with the audience. This year, for instance, skinny jeans are currently very popular, as well as new items like v-necks and backwards hats. This doesn’t mean that future fashion trends will be ‘Grunge,’ but it does mean that fashions and styles will definitely move in that direction.

There’s still time for grunge to make a comeback. Retailers are recognizing the timeless appeal of the ’90s fashion trends’ and offering those styles as well as a wider variety of colors, cuts, and designs. Just because they’re not in vogue yet, doesn’t mean that they can’t be your favorite for years to come! Fashion trends are always changing, but the ‘Grunge’ look will never go out of style. So put on your jeans, lace up your sneakers, and join the millions who love the look!
