What is the Best Clothes of Today? 1930s Fashion Tips For You

Every fashion aficionado knows that the 30s fashion trends began the way they did – with a bang. And, though this was the decade when “The Look” truly became “The Fashion,” it was also the decade when most women wore clothing that was far from “mainstream.” The Great Depression hit the country pretty hard and left many people out of work, so what to wear became a pressing concern. The “Blame” game began and this is where the 30s fashion trends started to take shape.

The end of the first World War meant that as a 1920s fashion enthusiast, you really had very little of a basic fashion baseline to go on so women were pretty satisfied with what was available at the clothiers and merchants of the time. Fashionable fabrics such as velvet were all the rage in those years so what great clothing to wear became the question. The “V for Villain” treatment was popular but only for the women of the avant-garde art world. In 1931 a social event in England called the “Blame Game” took place and it brought the focus back to fashion and more specifically to what clothing should not be worn at social gatherings. Fashion was again all the rage and the “V for Villain” treatment was put to the test. It was the year of the “Famous Five” and many felt the 30s fashion trends were just right then.

But what about now? Is there anything left in the 1930s fashion trends? Well, actually, there is a bit. Remember, we are talking about clothing made of material that dyes can be colored so they can become virtually anything. The dye is still used in clothing production so in fact, the “old fashioned” shirts and pants you often see in movies and on TV have actually been made out of new materials and updated to modern standards.
