Learn About the 1970s Fashion Trends Timeline

Before we really get into the fashion trends of the 1970s, we must first give a brief history lesson on fashion. Fashion has always been popular since the ancient times and is still as popular today, it just takes a little more creativity to pull it off. In those days, if you wanted to wear something that looked pretty, you would simply go ahead and use the finest materials, from ostrich feather and zebra down to snakeskin and cow hide. These days, the materials used in fashion are far more varied, as designers often mimic the natural materials that we use every day, but then take it one step further and create a new look from these materials.

So, let’s get into some facts. As mentioned above, there are many different fashion trends that have been present throughout the decades, but they actually began in different parts of the world. For instance, in Europe and in some areas of Asia, women would only wear a particular type of hat, for example, and the rest of the world wore what they deemed to be appropriate clothing. However, as time went by, with the rise of western culture, Asian and European fashion gradually began to take precedence over what was worn in the past.

One important trend that did however, emerge from all of this is the idea of “body art”. This term, which means wearing or affixed with accessories, first came about during the punk era in the eighties and then took off in the nineties. However, this was only a brief period in fashion because the image of wearing tattoos was criticized heavily by the Roman Catholic Church and this made it very hard to display such images. Nonetheless, it still remained until very recently, and many people continue to sport body art in their lives.
