The Beginnings of Fashion Trends in 1971

The year before, there was no fashion; fashion was only for women. Women wore knitted sweaters, mittens and scarves to keep their hands warm. They also wore no makeup and straight hair, and men wore button down shirts with leather collars and wingtips. Most people thought that the year before fashion trends were not acceptable to wear such a rosy look and women’s fashion lines did not even exist. However, the year later, when photographer Victorians started taking fashion pictures, there was a new fashion in fashion that could be described as the first modern fashion trend.

This new look was called Mod Fashion and the year before, women only wore solid colors such as black, white, brown, blue, dark green, red, and other pale pastel colors. However, in this new year of 1971, fashion trends started to change. Women’s fashion lines began to include bold colors that had not been seen before, such as orange, yellow, pink and blue. There was also a movement toward bold stripes, polka dots and bold patterns and prints.

Another trend that was popular for women of all ages in this new year of 1971 was the use of stripes, patterns, and prints as accessories. Women could wear patterned pants, skirts, dresses and blouses with these accessories, and the clothing itself was more fitted and form fitting. The year before, there were fashion trends that focused more on the body of the person wearing the clothing, such as slim slender figures, with large buttocks and large breasts. However, this year, the focus was more on the face, especially the eyes, with fashion trends focusing more on facial features, including cheekbones and nose. Women’s fashion lines were also making it easier for women of different sizes and shapes by using different styles, cut, and fabric.
