How Teenagers Are Designing Their Own Fashion Trends?

One of the biggest fashion trends for the 21st century is the use of fashion as a marketing tool. Teenagers are heavily involved in the process of choosing and buying clothing, and it’s no wonder that trends are continuously emerging and making their way into the popular culture. One of the newest trends that has been gaining popularity in the past few years is that of using a tattoo as a fashion statement. Many of the teenagers that I’ve known have had several tattoos on their bodies at a very young age. A recent article was written by an author who stated that she believed that more teens were starting to get tattoos based on the “trend” of the year; which was Black Spring. I believe that this trend will continue into next year; especially since the upcoming movie “The Hunger Games” will feature a large number of tattoos.

Another one of the more popular fashion trends for the 21st century is to use accessories to complement one’s outfit. For example, many teenagers are beginning to wear bandannas as a fashion statement. Although this trend may have started off as something for a rebellious subculture, it has slowly been making its way into mainstream society. In fact, one of the most popular fashion statements amongst young adults today is to wear an item that may be considered “tourist chic”, such as a bandanna.

As one can see, it’s easy to fall into the trap of wearing something trendy simply because it fits in with one’s appearance. This can quickly lead to having the “T” out of fashion; as your clothing begins to mutate quickly due to constant use. If a trend seems to be “hot”, there’s a good chance that it will eventually become outdated. The best fashion trends are ones that stay timeless, and are something that will never go out of style!
