Maya Fadeeva is the perfect example of how a young woman can reach the zenith of success while at the same time maintaining her original cultural identity. A native of both Belarus and Russia, Maya is originally from Ovlav Havelisk in the Transcaucasian region of the Russian Empire. She has followed a career path that would take her all over the world and into many different fields of work, but to say that she has achieved success would be an understatement. Today, Maya Fadeeva is one of the leading Russian businesswomen and is the Managing Partner at the highly-respected investment company, Global Sources. Before that, she worked as the Editor in Chief for a prestigious online financial magazine.
Today, she is the proudest of her accomplishments and looks back on her early days with fond memories. “My parents encouraged me to be bold and take the risks that I did when I first started my career and that’s what I did. There was no turning back”, she says, looking back on her career. In fact, she believes that having children changed everything for her, making her more ambitious and successful than she had ever dreamed.
It seems to be obvious that Maya’s determination and passion for her profession came at a very young age. At the age of eighteen, when her parents took their chance on an unknown profession, she already had her mind set on being a journalist. However, due to personal and career issues, the plan for her career never materialized and in fact, faded away. However, twelve years later, after her parents divorced and she was in the midst of a personality and financial crisis, she decided to give it another try, this time going into writing, while at the same time, trying to live and breathe a new career.
