Casey J has made a name for herself as one of America’s foremost and highly respected gospel musicians. She has been nominated for four Grammys, has been featured on several Best CDs, and continues to tour to this day. Born in segregated areas of North and South Carolina, Casey J. grew up listening to the gospel music performed by her parents and other African Americans who were also part of the gospel movement. Growing up, Casey J. also developed a deep interest in music and even began learning how to play the guitar when she was young. When she was a teenager, she began performing both as a member of her group with fellow students from her junior high school alike, and later, as a solo artist.

Heightened by a love of music and a strong desire to share her unique spiritual beliefs to those who would listen, Casey J. released her first solo album, Reach Out, in 1997. The album sold very well, and Casey was able to secure a deal with powerhouse producer John Lewis of The Black Sabbath. Her second album, No Limit, was issued in 2021. During the next few years, her career was virtually unheard of, as other country stars had already been singing about their height limitations.

Now, as an adult, she continues to battle with height challenges. Her latest album features a collaboration between herself and her partner, 31-year-old British artist Benci Grosso. While working with Grosso on this CD, Casey J. has learned that even though being tall may be a challenge for her, it is not something that limits her artistic possibilities. In fact, if anything, height is helped along by her ability to express her musical ideas in such a captivating way.
