Jon Casey is an American hockey player who currently plays for the National Hockey League’s Columbus Blue Jackets. He was born in Pinellas County, Florida and was raised in Toronto, Canada. Jon Casey was a mainstay on the US National Team Development Program from age 14 to age 17, competing against other high-quality players in order to help the team prepare for the international tournament that is held in Canada every four years. His prowess on the ice earned him a place with the NHL’s New York Rangers.

Jon has had a variety of personal and professional ups and downs in his sport career. He played college hockey for the University of Minnesota, but did not earn a degree in hockey. Because he lacked a true playing career, he joined the National Hockey League where he spent five seasons with the Blues, Boston Bruins and Minnesota North Stars. He was traded to the New York Rangers following the conclusion of his NHL contract, but he failed to receive offers from other teams due to what he believed were inadequate circumstances regarding his playing ability. Jon was traded back to the Blues, the following season, and has never been able to play on an international stage because of the stigma attached to his nationality and his status as an American.

Jon was able to make a name for himself in hockey after having an up and down career. He finally signed a contract with the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche and has played there ever since. He has been an All Star with the Avs and has even received votes for the Stanley Cup once. Many believe that he would be a great candidate for the Hall of Fame because of his solid all around game. He is a worthy candidate for the Nationality Hall because he fits the requirements for a candidate who is of American nationality and is a professional in the National Hockey League.
