Belle Brockhoff is an Australian snowboarder, whose accomplishments in the sport of snowboarding far out-weigh her national identity or nationality. She represented Australia in the FIS Snowboarding World Championships two years in a row. This was followed by the qualification for the Olympic Games in Nagano, Japan. It was during the Vancouver Olympics that she made history by becoming the first female to compete in the men’s category at the Olympic Games. Recently, she has decided to add o skiing to her list of winter sports activities. However, while she has a long history in both of these sports, it should be noted that there is quite a bit of difference between the two sports.

Although they both involve sliding on the snow surface, the slopes are quite different. Snowboarding involves a lot more technical moves such as turns and bumps. For this reason, in order to compete in the sport, a person must have both a strong grip on the snowboarding equipment, as well as strong legs – which are both critical in excelling in the sport of snowboarding.

While Snowboarding is essentially the same as skiing, the way one performs in the latter is much more difficult. As Belle knows from experience, both of these sports require dedication, strength and balance to excel in the different disciplines. The height difference that Belle stands by though, simply puts her in an advantage when it comes to competing in the snowboarding discipline. As a result, it may be a good idea for her to stick with the slower, less technical moves while riding with her snowboarding partner.
