Deborah Maniscalco is a graduate of Santa Barbara State University with a degree in Social Sciences. She has been married to her husband, Jose P. Maniscalco since 1987 and they have two children, aged eight and six. Her educational background is quite extensive, as she has taught both sociology and political science at two different colleges. In her early days as a social worker, she also spent a considerable amount of time as a counselor at the domestic violence unit of the county’s domestic violence unit.
It was then that she realized there was an art to dating for a woman and that she should hone this skill as she looked forward to marrying Jose. “At that time I realized that I didn’t fit the usual mold for a successful marriage candidate-tall, thin, conservative, and with a career. It was then that I decided to pursue my education so that I could be the kind of person that Jose was looking for-a vibrant, open-minded, adventurous, caring, humorous, creative, loyal, caring, compassionate, intelligent, and romantic.”
