Claire Sully who was born in Scotland has been described as “a typical high achiever with high physical strength and excellent mathematical ability”. Claire’s mother was a talented pianist and she was very much preoccupied with music from a very early age. As far back as the age of six she began learning classical piano and this interest lasted throughout her life. She is described as “very strong willed” by those who knew her and she had no qualms about entering exams which required strong ability in the academics. Claire had an average height and weight for her age, which would place her in the category of “medium to tall” female and at the age of eighteen she was described as “very thin”.
Claire began a relationship with John Smith, who was thirty-four years her junior. It did not take long before their relationship progressed to marriage. Claire had already developed strong international speaking skills and John was able to speak fairly quickly which was helpful in their career. Claire went to work in the finance sector and it was here that she learned English and that ability combined with a determination to succeed made it possible for her to gain a position at the prestigious grammar school Harrow School in England. The level of competition which Claire experienced in the establishment was immense and she made sure that she excelled in all of the subjects which were required for the position.
Claire Sully’s husband worked in a building company and the two remained together for the next twenty years. They married in 1965 when she was the proud owner of three daughters. When the marriage was happening it was clear to all that Claire had fallen head over heels in love. Her husband never filed any legal papers which meant that this union was not based on anything legal and it is believed that this was the start of a number of lovers, which would continue to occur throughout their marriage. Claire was a woman who understood the concept of working hard for what you want and the happiness that comes from achieving your goals.
