Anna Parini – Commercial Illustrator

Anna Parini is an Italian national who has had a long career as a successful illustrator and painter. She began her career in art at the age of sixteen, where she honed her skills under the tutelage of an older lady who taught her about color theory, sketching techniques, and how to draw. After school, she continued on to college to get an Education in Graphic Design, graduating in 1967 at the age of twenty-one. At the age of forty, she began her career as a commercial illustrator for publishing companies and publishing catalogs, creating advertising illustrations for upscale department stores such as Bath & Body Works, Tiffany & Co., and Chippendale.

After being laid off from her commercial illustrator job in the late seventies, Anna developed a fascination with painting and decided to pursue a career as an illustrator. She attended the University of Genoa, where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design. She then went to Milan, Italy to study briefly with the renowned illustrator Piero Giordano. After graduating, Anna moved to New York City and worked as an assistant to illustrators such as Frank Stella and Mary Cassatt until they began their own careers.

Today, Anna continues to paint commercial and fine art oil paintings and pencil drawings as well as many other mediums, including photography. Her work has been featured in numerous magazines including Time, Good Housekeeping, Self Magazine, More Magazine, Seventeen, Glamour, Brides, Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Brides, and others. Parini’s own studio in New York City continues to grow as she pursues her artistic career and continues to meet and work with talented new artists from all over the world. Anna Parini continues to be a favorite and respected name within the industry as she continues to challenge and influence the way that commercial illustrators are portrayed.
