Cynthia Gwebu is a name that has been linked to the entertainment industry since the 80’s. Popular among her peers in the likes of Demi Moore and Oprah Winfrey, Gwebu rose from relative obscurity to become one of today’s most sought-out stars. Born as Cynthia Hanham Gutiola in Ethiopia, Gwebu made her first appearances on television in a number of African American related shows. Following her appearance on such shows, Gwebu then ventured into feature films and television dramas. Now with her career as a martial artist and actor having fully taken off, she looks to continue on with the same success in her acting career while pursuing other avenues in her personal life.

Perhaps one of Cynthia Gwebu’s strengths lies in the fact that she is an accomplished martial artist, being particularly known for her prowess in both street combat and traditional fencing. In fact, her extensive knowledge in both disciplines has led to a number of recurring roles in both of these fields, including “Wolverine” and “Hit Girl”. Growing up in segregated East Africa, Gwebu was often forced to work in the streets as a child, and consequently always had a strong sense of self worth. As an adult, this led to a desire to pursue martial arts training to help her better deal with the social and political issues in her daily life. Following a period of failed attempts at formal martial arts training, Gwebu turned towards various forms of street fighting, eventually landing a role on “The Shield”. Following appearances on such series as “ER”, “MacGyver” and “Xena: The Battle For The Family”, Gwebu is now set to appear in the popular ABC show “Dancing With The Stars” as well as in a series of action movies.

Set to appear in the role of a Chinese agent in the upcoming “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” film, it will be interesting to see how Cynthia Gwebu fits into the world of pop culture. Her previous experience in the realm of acting has provided her with a wide array of talents that can be used successfully in the world of film, television and theatre. At the same time, her natural beauty is a natural asset that any actor could use to make herself stand out in a crowd. Hopefully, we will see a new take on Gwebu’s character in future productions. We do know that she has had some screen time in the future, so it is likely that we will continue to see a bright future for her.
