When Cynthia Taylu was twenty-four years old, she became the first out of many young people in her family to be awarded a full scholarship to the University of New South Wales in Sydney where she pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education with an emphasis on School Psychology. She obtained this major in order to supplement her meager income at the time while working as a receptionist in a public school. This experience, combined with her strong sense of fairness and her vision for a better New South Wales, brought her many new friends and soon she was working as an administrator in the Public School System while pursuing her degree. After graduation, she moved into an academic position in the Department of Education in the State of New South Wales where she specialized in the teaching and development of students with disabilities. In this position, she also gained important experience in the areas of mathematics, science, and history, which enabled her to develop a deep interest in issues facing youth in today’s society.

While serving her public school community in Sydney, Australia, she began to feel the need to move on after fifteen years of public service. Having spent many years at the forefront of issues that affect us as a nation, she felt it was time for a change and pursued graduate studies in Social Work at the Australian National University. During her time in Adelaide, Taylu was inspired to pursue a Master of Education in Social Work at the Australian National University. Once there, she focused her efforts on the empowerment of low and disadvantaged children and women through child protection and community organizing efforts. This experience solidified her strong interest and commitment to the causes and needs of children and vulnerable adults.
