Imani-Lara Lansiquot has been a name that springs to mind when discussing the elite sprinters in the world today. The twenty-two-year-old Canadian national has been a mainstay in her country’s track and field scene for over two decades, most notably winning the world indoor titles in the long jump and in the high jump in 2021. She has also won the bronze at the world indoor and outdoor track and field championships. This combined with a string of impressive high profile competitions have made Imani-Lara Lansiquot one of the most highly sought after athletes by sports fans around the world. In the UK, her name has even been sung by the world famous David Soul.

Imani-Lara Lansiquot’s training schedule will be focused on the high jump in her off season. As a professional in the field, it would make sense that she would ideally train more to improve her speed and get used to the rough conditions that are part and parcel of track and field sports. This means that on some days she may miss out on some of the slower training sessions that are often required for sprinters to be fully ready for the big events. This, however, should not deter her from trying. Instead, it is hoped that this will be a healthy test of her mettle and help her to ensure that she is prepared for the tougher games once the season starts.

It is clear from the press that Imani-Lara Lansiquot’s main aim is to win gold at the Olympics. It is fair to say however, that her profession does not take precedence over everything else. Indeed, her commitment to her commitments as a professional cyclist is admirable. She has obviously realised, after representing her country at the very top level, that there is much more to being a professional athlete than winning gold medals.
