In 2021, award-winning author, Lara Tamash created the novel Lara Tamash: Portrait of a Woman Whom the World Has Deserved by focusing on one of history’s most significant women – Genghis Khan. The book revolves around the early years that Genghis Khan took on her own life, becoming a warlord, conqueror and husband to his half-brother. This historical figure from the pages of history is graphically drawn in this bestselling novel.

Genghis Khan never allowed Lara to marry or have children and the relationship between her half-brother was fraught with constant friction. Despite her obvious physical beauty, Genghis Khan did not approve of her being a part of his harem and constantly mock her looks, even to the point of forcing a servant girl to wear a loin cloth made of wool for her to wear around her. One day, as punishment, she was to marry a boy from her harem only to have the ritual reversed later on. With every turn, her relationship with her half-brother worsened and before long, she left him, determined to pursue a career in politics.

However, upon completing her education and starting a new life, she decided to look into a career change that would allow her to continue working while enjoying her relationships. Although she had long considered a career in journalism, the height difference between her intended partner kept her from pursuing this goal. Her passport and papers were not long enough to allow her to work internationally, so she pursued the opportunity of writing, traveling and working in various parts of the world. Despite her determination and hard work, however, she failed to meet her half-brother and was forced to live with an abusive stepmother. On Genghis Khan’s death, Lara’s courage and determination allowed her to finally accept her position as wives’ maid and live with her lover, Moira. Although the novel concentrates on Genghis Khan’s life and accomplishments, it also covers her personal growth and struggles that all women worldwide face.
