Isabel Ekeminiobong, a known personality from Thailand, is well-known for her long legs and height. Today, Isabel is a celebrity in her own right, thanks to her role as Niu Po in the hit movie of the same name. She has played the character for almost eight years now and has successfully brought the Thai Nationality into limelight. But what has it taken for such a simple looking girl to go through such an enormous path of success?

For many years, no one really knew what Nationality was. It was only after independence in 1947 that the Thai government began to institute a system of keeping Nationality records. Until this time, everyone was born Royal Thai and continued using the Thai traditional dress codes. But as times changed, Thai began to feel more like an outside country. The royal family had always maintained their ties with the Chinese, but with the changing of time, with the establishment of the proportional political system, they felt much closer to their Chinese counterparts.

As a result, many Thais started using the term Nationality in place of Royalty and used the Thai word for the same. Today, there are many Thais who still use the word Nationality when talking of their heritage. Though many are using this term to describe their occupation or profession, some consider it more of an honorific. If you’re not familiar with Nationality or find it hard to understand the meaning behind it, you can ask your Thai guide for more information on the topic.
