Yasmin Furmie is a Canadian singer and dancer who have gained international recognition. In fact, she was the very first Canadian to appear on American television, making her one of the few tall female stars in popular culture. Her tall height and rippling hips have earned her the crown as one of the most popular attractions on the daytime soap opera “Romantically Challenged” in Canada. However, in spite of this fame, many do not know much about the brunette beauty who has achieved stardom in such a short period. The following paragraphs would like to provide a brief background on the life and times of a performer who can be found on the cover pages of many men’s magazines and in the tabloids across North America.

Yasmin Furmie was born in Scarborough, Ontario where she grew up as a teenager with her parents divorced and her younger brother, Noah, already an adult. At the age of fourteen, she discovered the joys of dancing, which would later become a lifelong passion. It was during this time that she began working with choreographers and trainers who would help develop her routines into successful stage performances. As a result, she received several awards for her dancing skills including First Degree Dance Award from the Canadian Council of Dancing, a Princess of dance diploma from the York University School of dance, a Sunshine Tree award from the Order of the British Empire of Dance, and a Governor award from the Royal Academy of Dance. As a member of the House of Orchid, she has also gained a degree of proficiency in Chinese classical dancing.

While attending college in Toronto, she discovered an interest in performing as a solo artist while living on her own. At the same time, however, she continued to work with choreographers and trainers in the hopes of gaining more exposure for her talent. This discovery of her abilities earned her the attention of the then twenty-six-year-old Canadian Hip Hop recording artist, M.D. Jayne, who signed her to his popular record label, Play Records. In addition to working with Jayne, she has also recorded under the names Spodee, Mista and Vassy, as well as working with various other well-known artists.
